Two Iranian short animations are to be screened at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France.
‘Ascribed Achievement’ directed by Samaneh Shojaee and Shiva Sadegh Assadi’s ‘Yal Va Koopal’ are the two animations to be screened in the festival.
In its first international appearance, ‘Yal Va Koopal’ is to be Iran’s only representative in the main competition section.
The short animation narrates the story of a young girl's repressed emotions and instincts that are embodied in some animals that come out of her dreams. However, no one in her family is receptive to these animals.
‘Ascribed Achievement’ is also to be screened at the Graduation films section of the French event.
The animation, which is a new experience with grotesque narration and real images, tells the story of an old boy, who is dissatisfied with his inborn appearance and decides to end his life. But his failed suicide leads to a new situation in his life.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.
Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998.
It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA).
